iDrive 6 vs iDrive 7 — What’s the Difference?
iDrive 6 runs on the NBT Evo hardware platform (F-Series: F30, F32, F10, F15, F80, F82 etc.). iDrive 7 runs on the MGU platform (G-Series: G20, G30, G05 etc.). Same remote session approach, different coding parameters, and slightly different feature sets. The iDrive 6 bundle adds the Digital Speedometer which is not available on iDrive 7.
The 8 Features — Explained
1. Video in Motion (VIM)
BMW disables video playback on the NBT Evo screen when the car is moving. VIM removes this limitation. USB video, streaming sources, and connected device playback all work while driving. The most popular coding request for F-Series owners globally — particularly in the USA, Middle East, and Australia.
2. Auto Start-Stop Memory OFF
Every time you start the car, the auto start-stop system resets to ON. After this coding it remembers your choice: leave it off once and it stays off until you turn it back on yourself. Most F-Series owners code this within the first month of ownership.
3. Reverse Mirror Tilt 49°
The left (driver) mirror drops 49° when reverse gear is selected, showing the kerb line below the car. BMW includes the hardware on most NBT Evo builds — the software trigger just isn’t active. Widely requested by customers in the UAE, UK, and Australia for tight urban parking.
4. Digital Speedometer
A live speed readout appears on the iDrive screen alongside your navigation or other views. Large, clear digits showing current speed in your local unit (mph or km/h). Exclusive to iDrive 6 coding — particularly useful on motorways. Popular in the USA and Germany.
5. M Startup Animation
On ignition, the iDrive display shows the M Performance rev counter needle sweep — the same startup animation that M vehicles show from the factory. Activatable on all F-Series with NBT Evo, not just M-badged cars.
6. Disclaimer Screen Removed
The iDrive startup disclaimer requires a tap before the infotainment becomes usable. This coding removes it permanently. Saves 3–5 seconds every single time you start the car.
7. One-touch Window After Ignition Off
Windows stop responding immediately on ignition off by default. After coding, they remain active for ~30 seconds — time to close them after parking. Standard on many European market BMWs from the factory; not enabled on export builds.
8. Mirror Fold + Lock Sound
Mirrors fold automatically every time you lock the car. The lock sound confirmation plays simultaneously. Both features together give the experience of a higher-spec trim from the factory. Mirrors unfold on unlock.

Important: Must have NBT Evo (post-2016 software update). If your car has the earlier square-screen NBT or EntryNav system, contact us with your VIN — some earlier builds can be confirmed but it varies.
How the Remote Session Works
You need:
- BMW ENET cable (~$25 Amazon) — OBD2 to Ethernet. You keep it after the session. Search “BMW ENET OBD2 cable”, any brand works.
- Windows laptop — any spec. Just needs to run TeamViewer.
- TeamViewer — free download. Used for our remote connection to your laptop.
Park the car with ignition on (engine off). Plug the ENET cable from the OBD port to the laptop. Share your TeamViewer ID with us. We connect, open E-Sys, and code every feature on the list. You watch on screen. Each feature is tested before we move to the next. Session takes 40 minutes from connection to completion.

Anti-Dazzle on F-Series BMW — What to Know
The F-Series anti-dazzle system (NGHB) works the same way as G-Series: the front camera detects traffic and automatically modulates the high beams. On F30, F32, F10, F15 X5, and F80 M3 models equipped with adaptive LED headlights (option 5AS), the coding is straightforward and done in the same NBT Evo session as your bundle features.
Important for F-Series: Anti-dazzle requires the adaptive LED headlight option (SA 5AS). Standard halogen or fixed LED headlights cannot be coded. Send your VIN — we decode your option list and confirm before you buy.
