The F30 is a coding paradise — almost everything can be changed with BimmerCode or E-Sys, and changes stick permanently. No security restrictions, no dealer-overwrite protection needed.
The G20 started the same way, but BMW has progressively added restrictions through software updates. The biggest change was I-Level 23-03, which introduced NCD 2.0 secure coding on key modules (BDC, HU).
