BMW’s auto-fold mirrors (automatic folding when the car is locked) are controlled by the FZD (Dachfunktionszentrum) module and linked to the Comfort Access or central locking system. After coding sessions or software updates, the folding behavior can reset to “manual only.”
Why Mirrors Stop Auto-Folding After Coding
When coding other features via E-Sys, BimmerCode, or similar software, adjacent module parameters can be affected. The auto-fold mirror setting is stored in the FZD module alongside door/window/sunroof automation — any coding to this module can reset the fold behaviour.
Quick Fix: Check iDrive Settings First
- Go to: iDrive → Vehicle → Doors/Windows → Mirrors
- Find “Fold mirrors when locking” → set to ON
- Test by locking with the key fob
If the option is missing or grayed out, the feature needs to be re-coded.
Coding Fix via ENET (If iDrive Option Is Grayed Out)
The FZD module needs its “FS_SPIEGEL_EINKLAPPEN_VERRIEGELN” parameter reset to “aktiv”. This is a 10-minute ENET coding job:
