2. Auto Start-Stop Memory OFF

The G05 X5’s auto start-stop shuts the engine at every traffic light and junction — and on the B58 and N63 engines, the restart can feel noticeably clunky. More importantly, you have to press the button to disable it every single time you start the car. Start-Stop Memory coding sets the system to permanently disabled as the default state. The button still works if you want to re-enable it, but you will never have to touch it again just to drive normally.

3. Mirror Fold on Lock

The G05 X5 has power-folding mirrors as standard on most trim levels, but BMW does not enable the automatic fold-on-lock function from the factory. 6. M Startup Animation

On M Performance and M Sport G05 X5 variants, the M startup animation coding activates the M Performance rev counter display on the instrument cluster during ignition. It is a small change that significantly improves the theatre of starting the car.

7. Sport Plus / Comfort Plus Drive Modes

The G05 X5 ships with a limited selection of drive modes visible in the iDrive interface. Coding expands this to include Sport Plus mode (sharpened throttle, firmer adaptive dampers, heavier steering) and Comfort Plus (softest suspension setting for motorway cruising). On the X5M Competition, Sport Plus sharpens an already aggressive calibration further. These modes exist in the software but are hidden by default on many market variants.

8. One-Touch Window Operation After Ignition Off

By default, the G05 X5’s windows stop responding to the door switches once the ignition is off and the door is opened. This coding extends the comfort window operation window — allowing you to open or close all windows by holding the key fob buttons even after you have left the car. Useful for ventilating the cabin on a hot day in Dubai or Riyadh before you get in.

9. Disclaimer Screen Removed

Every G05 X5 with iDrive 7 displays a terms and conditions disclaimer screen on startup that requires manual dismissal. This adds a second or two to every journey and becomes increasingly annoying over thousands of ignition cycles. Coding disables this screen permanently — iDrive loads directly to the home screen.

G05 vs F15 X5 — What Changes in the Coding

The F15 X5 (2014–2018) runs iDrive 5 or iDrive 6, which have a fundamentally different software architecture and fewer factory-disabled features. The F15 supports some ENET coding (fold mirrors, VIM on iDrive 6), but the feature set is much narrower. The G05 (2019+) introduced the iDrive 7 (MGU) platform, which BMW used to add significantly more software-gated features — features that are all present in hardware but require coding to activate.
