1. Video in Motion (VIM)
VIM is consistently the most requested feature from G06 X6 owners — and it is easy to understand why. The X6 is often purchased as a premium daily driver or executive vehicle, where front passenger screen entertainment is expected. BMW’s factory software block prevents any video content from playing on the iDrive screen while moving. VIM coding removes this restriction permanently. For X6 owners in Dubai and Riyadh, where the car frequently carries passengers on long cross-city or motorway journeys, VIM is a day-one upgrade.
2. Auto Start-Stop Memory OFF
The G06 X6’s B58 and N63 engines feel out of character when the auto start-stop fires. The restart on the N63 V8 in particular is audible and noticeable in a way that undermines the premium character of the car. Start-Stop Memory coding permanently defaults the system to off — the system stays disabled on every cold start without any button press required.
3. Mirror Fold on Lock
The G06 X6 has electrochromatic, power-folding wing mirrors on most trims. Coding enables automatic fold-on-lock — mirrors fold when you lock the car and unfold when you approach. Essential for car parks in London, Sydney, and US cities where clearance is tight.
4. Key Fob Tailgate Close
The X6’s powered boot lid can be opened from the key fob. Coding adds the missing close function — long-press the tailgate button and the boot closes remotely, without needing to stand at the rear of the vehicle.
5. Reverse Mirror Tilt (49°)
The left wing mirror tilts down 49 degrees automatically in reverse, giving a direct sightline to the rear wheel and kerb. Particularly useful given the X6’s sloped rear and reduced visibility compared to the more upright X5.
6. M Startup Animation
On M50i and X6M Competition variants, the M startup animation sweeps the instrument cluster rev counter on ignition — a visual statement that matches the performance character of the car. Available on all G06 variants with M Sport or M Performance specification.
7. Sport Plus and Comfort Plus Drive Modes
The G06 X6 ships with a restricted drive mode selection in many market variants. Coding unlocks Sport Plus (maximum aggression across throttle, steering, and dampers) and Comfort Plus (maximum softness for motorway running). On the X6M Competition, Sport Plus sharpens an already extreme calibration to track-day levels.
8. One-Touch Windows After Ignition Off
The window switches continue responding after the ignition is off and the door is open — but only after coding. This extends the standard comfort window function, allowing you to close all windows and the panoramic roof via the key fob even after leaving the car.
9. Disclaimer Screen Removed
The iDrive 7 startup disclaimer screen is disabled — iDrive loads directly to the home screen on every ignition cycle. A small but genuinely appreciated improvement after the first few hundred times the car is started.
