Why does my F30 320i have a tiny 6.5″ iDrive screen instead of widescreen?
BMW originally fitted the smaller 6.5″ screen as base trim across most F-chassis 1/2/3/4 Series. The 10.25″ widescreen was an option pack only on higher trims. This upgrade swaps in the OEM widescreen with no extra wiring needed.
Will my CIC or NBT head unit support the bigger screen without other changes?
Yes. F-Series CIC and NBT head units are physically identical regardless of screen size — only the screen panel and bezel differ. The NBT-EVO upgrade pairs especially well with this for full modern UI.
Will the new screen require coding?
No active coding needed — the head unit auto-detects screen size on power-up. If you also upgrade head unit at the same time, we can VIN-code that for you before shipping.
How long does the install take?
1-2 hours for a confident DIYer. The trim around the screen pops out with plastic trim tools, the cable harness is the same connector, and the new screen drops in. We provide an install video.
Will my factory navigation, climate display, and reversing camera all still work?
Yes. All iDrive functions render through the screen unchanged — just on more screen real estate. Reversing camera, navigation, media, settings, all unaffected.
