Installation
The module inserts between the factory head unit and the original loom. Includes a coding step to activate the full-screen CarPlay flag. Recommended to be installed by a workshop familiar with BMW NBT EVO service.
Frequently Asked Questions
My 2017 BMW has NBT EVO but the menu looks dated — can I get the modern look?
Yes. Many F-chassis NBT EVO units still ship with the older iDrive 4 UI. This service flashes them to the iDrive 6 interface (modern tile-based widget layout) — same hardware, fresh OS.
Will this also enable full-screen CarPlay?
Yes. The iDrive 6 update bundles the full-screen CarPlay activation, so your CarPlay sessions use the entire screen instead of being constrained to a windowed view.
Is this a hardware change or remote-only?
Remote only. We connect to your car via an OBD cable and remote desktop session, flash the head unit, and reboot. Total session ~30 minutes. No hardware leaves or arrives.
If I update my car later via dealer, will this be wiped?
BMW dealer software updates may revert UI to iDrive 4 in rare cases. If that happens we redo the flash for free within 12 months. Most users never see a regression.
Are there any new bugs or features lost going from iDrive 4 → 6?
No features lost. iDrive 6 actually adds: app integration, faster boot, improved nav rendering, customizable widgets, and full-screen CarPlay/Android Auto.
