BMW Hands-Free Driving (TJA / ACC Pro): How to Activate Without a Dealer

BMW's Traffic Jam Assistant (TJA) and ACC Pro Hands-Free system allows the car to steer itself in slow traffic and on motorways without the driver holding the steering wheel. Many BMWs have the sensors and cameras for this feature installed, but the software is locked or the required steering wheel capacitive sensor is absent.
How BMW Hands-Free Driving Works
The system uses a combination of: front radar (for ACC), lane cameras (for steering guidance), and a capacitive sensor on the steering wheel or a hands-free emulator. When all conditions are met (motorway, below ~60 km/h for TJA, or up to ~130 km/h for ACC Pro), the car steers itself while the driver monitors the road.
Two Activation Methods
Option A: Hands-Free Module (Hardware + Coding)
For BMWs that have ACC radar and lane cameras but lack the capacitive steering wheel sensor, the MTri Hands-Free Module emulates the presence sensor:

Option B: Coding Only (If Hardware Already Present)
If your BMW has a hands-free steering wheel (M Sport or newer G-Series equipped with 5AK/5AC option), only software coding is needed to activate the feature.
