What This Module Does

BMW vehicles with ACC PRO / Driving Assistant Professional (5AU/5AT) require you to keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times. The capacitive sensors in the steering wheel detect hand contact — if you let go, the system warns you with yellow then red lights and eventually disengages lane keeping and applies the brakes.

The HOD (Hands-Off Detection) emulator module simulates constant steering wheel contact. This allows you to use Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) truly hands-free in traffic at speeds under 60 km/h, and reduces the frequency of "hold steering wheel" warnings during highway ACC PRO use.

Requirements

• Your BMW must have ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) and KAFAS camera module
• Steering wheel must have ACC buttons (distance and speed controls)
• Vehicle must have EPS (Electric Power Steering)
• Not compatible with vehicles that have Active Steering (S217)

Installation

The module installs behind the steering column shroud. It connects to the vehicle's CAN bus via a dedicated harness. Installation takes approximately 20-30 minutes. After physical installation, a remote coding session is required to activate the module — this is included in the price.
